The main chemical constituents of Citronella Ceylon Oil derived from Cymbopogon nardus are Geraniol, Camphene, Limonene, Methyl isoeugenol, Geranyl acetate, Borneol, Citronellal, and Citronellol.

Ceylon (Cymbopogon nardus) and Java (Cymbopogon winterianus) are the two main varieties of Citronella from which the essential oil is derived via steam distillation of their fresh leaves. The species planted in the farm is Cymbopogon nardus.as identified by experts at the Bureau of Plant Industry, Manila, Philippines

 

Citronella is commonly mistaken for Lemongrass, because of their physical similarities and scent. The easiest way to tell the difference is that Lemongrass has off-white pseudostems while those of the Citronella plant are reddish/purplish in color.
